Early Childhood Teacher Available as Nanny!

My name is Cheryl, and I am a 24 year old Nanny in New York. I was born and raised in NY state, and have a degree in English/Childhood Education & Development, from SUNY College at Oneonta. I am currently working for a wonderful family in the West Village, but will be leaving them shortly, as the children will be school full-time and I will no longer be needed. I have coordinated with my current family on every aspect of childcare, from the children's daily meals, to the organization of their bedroom, to which toys/books are developmentally appropriate. I believe that each child is unique and learns in different ways. I strive to find out how each child I work with learns best, and then promote learning and discovery through everyday interactions with the world around us. I believe in engaging and stimulating the natural curiosity of child to help them reach their potential ie: using their own questions and interests that lead to a real world lesson (I like to call them teachable moments.) I love taking children to the park or museums, and engaging/exploring with them in that playful environment. I am definitely not the type of nanny that would be sitting at the playground on her cell phone while your children play, my primary concern is and always will be the safety and development of your child.

Previous work experience includes, three years as a Nanny and/or mother's helper, two years as an assistant teacher in a daycare and assistant teacher in a class for children with special needs, and extensive classroom and tutoring experience. As a former lifeguard and swim instructor I have a CPR and First Aid certification. I have experience with separation, potty training, and ERB preparation and my education and experience encompasses children from newborn up to ages 12 and above. I will also assist with light housekeeping ie: cooking for the children/keeping their room/playroom clean, children's laundry/dishes and running errands when needed. I am available 35/45 hours per week, with night/weekend/travel availability on occasion as well.
