Tutoring Policies

Rate: $75 per hour or $100 for 90 minutes (sliding fee available if needed). $65 per hour for meetings regularly scheduled for more than once per week.

Location: Usually I meet with students in their homes, occasionally I may request that the student come to my home if possible. I can also meet at Borders in Chestnut Hill if convenient. If commute is longer than 20 minutes one-way from my home to yours, an additional charge of $20 will apply.

Tutoring Sessions: During the first tutoring session, I will assess the student's level of Spanish ability and determine specific areas for improvement. Any recent tests/quizzes, homework, or information from the student's Spanish teacher will help me greatly. For subsequent sessions, any class work or homework that the student has done or needs to do should be brought to the session for review or use in instruction. The student should always bring his or her Spanish textbook and workbook to the tutoring session.

Frequency of Sessions: Typically, I meet with students once per week for one hour. In the week(s) prior to major exams I strongly recommend meeting at least twice, or more if the student needs extra help and we can arrange time to do so. Most of my students have found it helpful to continue tutoring through the school year, even if they see improvement early on.

Cancellations: If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please do so up to 24 hours before the scheduled session. If you need to cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice, the agreed upon hourly rate will still be due at the next session, in addition to payment for that week’s session (or should be mailed if the next session is more than one week away or if there will be no further sessions). If an emergency forces me I to cancel a session, I will do my best to reschedule the session as soon as possible.
